What do patient say about us?

8-30-06

We are being afforded a wonderful new service here in Peachtree City that I wanted to make sure everyone knew about. It is an after hours e-clinic near KMart. It’s Saturday night at 8 p.m. and I was just seen by a doctor, and given a prescription to treat my strep throat. The whole time I was there, I was just thinking back to the day when my oldest was always needing to see a doctor for ear infections, and of course when we needed the doctor was in the middle of the night. What a wonderful type of clinic to have so close to home. We are very lucky. I had a terrific experience, and highly recommend it. Its quite a forward thinking clinic, and very professional.

Health-e-station unveils solution to ED overcrowding by opening first walk-in-center in the US, that utilizes medical video-conferencing technology to treat minor illness.

Peachtree City, Georgia (August 14, 2006) - Today in Peachtree City Georgia, Health-e-Station opened the first after-hours walk-in center of its kind in the United States aimed at addressing the current overcrowding of Emergency Departments with non-emergency conditions.

The Brainchild of Dr Andy Agwunobi, a pediatrician and immediate past President and CEO of Grady Health System, Atlanta, Georgia, working with the Georgia Research Alliance a group of eminent scholars from MCG, Georgia Tech and UGA, Health-e-Station walk-in center utilizes video-conferencing technology to provide affordable, high quality physician encounters for minor care in the after-hours period. FDA approved bi-directional video-conferencing equipment and specially adapted attachments such as electronic stethoscopes, and cameras for examining the throat and ears, allow patients to have an interactive face-to-face physician-encounter across a plasma-screen with a board-certified physician located miles away from the patient. By harnessing the latest medical video-conferencing technology to create a hub-and-spoke model of a few highly-trained centrally-located physicians serving many patients in multiple urban walk-in centers across the state, Health-e-station model overcomes the economic barriers to providing physician care for minor conditions, especially in the after-hours period and on weekends. The Peachtree City location is the first of such walk-in centers but a statewide and nationwide expansion is planned in the near future. The health-e-station after-hours and weekend care model is designed to complement not substitute the care provided by primary care physicians during regular business hours and health-e-station will partner with such physicians to ensure continuity of care. Transmission of encounter records to patients' primary care providers will be enhanced by Health-e-stations' fully-automated, paperless, medical record system. Health-e-station also plans to approach national grocery chains to serve as an alternative to the current rash of nurse-practitioner in-store clinics. In contrast to current models Health-e-station in-store clinics would provide board-certified physician care, and would occupy minimal space.

The Health-e-Station model was founded on the concept of giving control of healthcare back to consumers by combining access to affordable physician-delivered care for minor conditions between 4pm and 8am weekdays, and 24 hours on weekends, with the necessary tools and education to manage one's health at home. As such, in addition to the video-conference doctor-visits, the Peachtree City location features a comprehensive consumer-health book library, home-testing kits and free computer access to multiple selected healthcare websites. This is delivered in an upscale coffee-shop like setting situated next to a Kroger with 24 hrs Pharmacy.
